What changed

Stable against prior reads. No official transaction, injury report or game result moved the baseline, while September added a Raw Charge profile of defenseman prospect Maxim Groshev and multiple remembrances of Melrose as one event, none of which changes lineup geometry.

Why it matters

Tampa Bay still bullies winters and faceplants in springs, and September brought mourning and prospects instead of answers.

What to watch

Watch camp cuts that set the real 23, the line assignment for Geekie in week one, and any official update on pair usage behind the top defensemen.

What would change our mind

Sustained five on five slide across the first two months, a major injury to a top center, defenseman or starting goalie, or a fall outside the Atlantic top three would break the thesis.

The counterevidence

No 2026-27 regular season games have been played, so every judgment on this group remains projection until opening night.
Prior season totals describe last year's mix, which changed on defense, wing and backup goalie, and the fresh September items add only a Raw Charge prospect note and remembrances for former Lightning
