Monday, September 21, 2026First edition · The read holds, with reservations. Confidence 74/100.
What changed
Baseline sat at 74 on a high floor plus playoff questions. Sept. 20 added a 2-1 preseason win over Nashville and Sept. 21 added an official seven player camp cut, neither an official transaction nor a lineup lock. Confidence holds at 74 because opening night middle depth, not exhibition scoring, carries October cost.
Why it matters
50-26-6 for 106 points and second in the Atlantic, then a Game 7 loss to Montreal. Right wing Nikita Kucherov powers a winter hammer that keeps leaking in April.
What to watch
Watch official cuts that set the 23, any injured reserve placement once camp contact starts and a signed extension that resets future planning around Kucherov.
What would change our mind
An extended five on five slide across the first two months, a major injury to a top pair defender or the starting goalie, or a fall outside the Atlantic top three would break the read.
The counterevidence
- No 2026-27 regular season games have been played, so last season totals describe context rather than current form.
- PuckPedia projects about $3.23M in space on a full 23, single-source reporting with a pull error that needs an official transaction to confirm.
- No verified lines, pairs or backup order are on file, so projected combinations stay projections.
